Santa Monica Pier, 8/5/17
No beach in Southern California is arguably more crowded on an August Saturday than the shores of Santa Monica.
It boggles the mind, as there are many areas to the left and right with lots of room to move--hello Venice, Playa del Rey, Pacific Palisades, Malibu and on and on.
But the masses come in force, presumably enticed by the next-door monument to fun (and people watching) that is the Santa Monica Pier.
What's it like to visit the Pier on a Saturday summer afternoon?
Huge crowds, street vendors, rides, snacks--you name it.
